vexmantra play original instrumental heavy rock laced with trippy and prog influences. Raw, organic drums, guitar and bass, overlaid with trippy synths, sounds & video. We write songs to play live first and foremost, using triggers to bring in our audio and video samples rather than clicktracks.

We are an amalgamation of different influences: Tom (guitar) bringing strong metal influences, heavy riffs, intricate melodies and crafted solos; Mike on bass adding hardcore mixed with ‘drum and bass’, melodic, driving and resonant; Colin on drums adding a touch of classic rock and post rock, grooves, swing and fills. Our samples add colour and texture. Introverted to chaotic, we play the whole spectrum.

We have been playing live for about 3 years, with about 30 gigs played in venues in and around Southampton such as the 1865, Edge of the Wedge, Suburbia, The Hobbit. We approach every gig with the same professional manner, and work very hard to give the best performance.

We love playing live music, and are open to play any venue, event or festival.

vexmantra plays original instrumental heavy rock, laced with prog and trippy vibes. Their music spans from in your face heavy rock, through intricate prog to introspective trippy epics. Hailing from Southampton, growing from the seeds of the city’s grassroots music scene, the band is unapologetic in playing music they get a kick from, no genre limits here. The heart of the band’s live show is telling stories of life’s journey using music, sound and video, a powerful and multidimensional experience.
