Calling Bassists!

We are looking for a bass player to join our band!

Who are we?

vexmantra is an instrumental trio, playing original rock and metal compositions featuring dreamy melodic passages through to heavy guitar-driven riffs. The band is a major creative outlet for us, and we put a lot of emphasis on collaboration and personal expression.

The band is based in Southampton, Hampshire, United Kingdom.

Who are we looking for?

Our founding bassist has moved onto other projects, so we are looking to bring in another bassist to continue where he left off. As the band’s material so far is mostly complete, our new member would need to learn the current material to begin with. However, we are keen for our new member to express their creativity and to put their own personality into the songs.

We’re a live band and are always looking to play gigs, so previous experience as a live performer would be preferred. That said, we’re open to someone who wants to take the next step in their musical journey. If you have the chops, give us a knock!

What can we offer?

vexmantra is a supportive and empowering band experience where your creativity can flourish. Our song writing process is very collaborative, and we are always open to exploring new ideas. We like to try things out, and we aren’t afraid to have a go at something. If it works, great! If not, we try something else.

The band would suit a bassist who enjoys a collaborative song writing process where they can put their musical ideas front and centre.

What’s the sound?

We have some demos of our current recordings on our music page.

Generally, we go for a rock/metal vibe with a good mix of clean and heavy passages, plus some layered sounds and samples. We don’t do vocals. We feel the instrumental approach gives more focus to the music, and allows for more personal interpretation of meaning. Plus, we cannot sing. At all.

Great, I’m interested!
